Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, store and protect personal data when you use this website.
Effective date: 31 July 2026
Praesidium Law Practice (“Praesidium”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we process personal data through praesidiumlawpractice.com in accordance with applicable Nigerian data protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Who controls your personal data
Praesidium Law Practice is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Privacy enquiries can be sent to info@praesidiumlawpractice.com, by telephone at +234 806 046 7014, or by post to Suites 13, 14, and 15 Dagep Plaza, Opposite NEPA Office, Karu Site Roundabout, Abuja or 2nd Floor, 36 Rwang Pam Street, Jos, Plateau State.
2. Personal data we collect
We may collect:
- Your name, email address, telephone number and area of legal interest.
- The message and other information you submit through the contact form.
- Technical information needed to operate and secure the website, such as request time, IP address, browser information and security logs.
- Administrator account and session information where authorised personnel access the content-management dashboard.
Please do not submit highly sensitive, confidential or privileged information through the website contact form. Using the form does not create a solicitor-client relationship.
3. How and why we use personal data
We process personal data to:
- Review and respond to enquiries and consultation requests.
- Conduct preliminary conflict, identity or matter checks where appropriate.
- Operate, maintain, secure and improve the website.
- Comply with legal, regulatory and professional obligations.
- Establish, exercise or defend legal claims and protect our legitimate interests.
Depending on the circumstances, our lawful basis may be your consent, steps taken at your request before entering a contract, performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, or our legitimate interests in managing enquiries and securing our services.
4. Contact-form submissions and email
Contact-form information is stored in our website backend and may also be delivered to our official mailbox so that our team can respond. Email is not guaranteed to be completely secure. Do not send documents or confidential matter details until we confirm an appropriate secure channel and accept the engagement.
5. Appwrite and service providers
The website uses Appwrite Cloud to host application data, including contact messages, articles and site settings. Appwrite and other infrastructure providers process data on our behalf under their applicable contractual and security terms. Because technology providers may operate infrastructure outside Nigeria, personal data may be processed in another country. Where required, we use appropriate contractual, technical and organisational safeguards for such transfers.
We use Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact form to distinguish genuine visitors from automated abuse. Cloudflare may process limited device, browser and network information for this security purpose under its applicable privacy and security terms.
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose it to vetted service providers, professional advisers, regulators, courts or law-enforcement authorities where necessary and lawful, or in connection with a reorganisation of the practice.
6. Cookies, local storage and analytics
The public website does not currently use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. Essential security technologies may be used by Cloudflare Turnstile, and an essential secure session cookie is used for administrator authentication. The administrator editor may use local browser storage to auto-save an unpublished draft on that administrator’s device. Local storage is also used to remember a visitor’s cookie preferences. These technologies are necessary for security or requested website functionality.
We do not currently use a third-party analytics service. If non-essential analytics or cookies are introduced, we will update this policy and provide any notice or consent controls required by law before using them.
7. Retention and security
We retain enquiry data only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, assess a potential engagement, meet professional or legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Retention periods may vary according to the nature of the enquiry and applicable requirements.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including restricted administrative access, secure sessions, validation, rate limiting and protected server-side credentials. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law and any permitted limitations, you may have the right to:
- Be informed about and obtain access to your personal data.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion, restriction of processing or data portability.
- Object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.
- Not be subject to certain solely automated decisions with significant effects.
- Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
To exercise a right, email info@praesidiumlawpractice.com. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity.
9. Children
This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal data through it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal data should contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect legal, regulatory or operational changes. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.
